TABUK CITY, KALINGA – All members of a family of four died on the spot after their van doved into a deep ravine along the Chico River in the morning of April 16, 2022 in Gonogon, Bagumbayan here. .
After the fall, barangay officials and residents rushed to rescue the victims. They were joined later by the responders from the local government unit of Tabuk City. The victims were identified as Marcelo Banggawan with his wife Marivic Botillas Sagyaman; their two children Marvin Sagyaman y Botillas, 27; and Azrel Sagyaman y Botillas ,12. All are residents of Sakpil,Conner,Apayao. According to the initial reports from the Tabuk City Police, the family came from Barangay Lubon, Tadian, Mountain Province. They were on their way home to Conner, Apayao via Kalinga Province.
Meanwhile, a staff of a local news publication Guru Press Cordillera was held-up by a riding-in-tandem at around 7:00 AM of April 16, 2022 at the old police substation in Barangay Ipil Tabuk City, Kalinga.
According to the news release of the publication, the staff was traversing the area on board a motorcycle when she was cut off by the riders in tinted helmet, one wearing a gray shirt and the other black jacket. When the staff who was said to be a lady stopped, one of the riders pointed a gun at her.
She pleaded but she was shoved causing her to fall unto the ground. The suspects then took her phone and wallet. They also took her motorcycle and fled to an unknown direction. Investigation is ongoing.
