BAGUIO CITY – A 32-year old fruit vendor died after he was repeatedly shot by still unidentified assailants in Purok 2 Lucnab here late Saturday night.
Senior Superintendent Rolando F. Miranda, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the fatality as Rolando Villena Lewis, 32, fruit vendor, and a resident of # 351 Purok 3, Lucnab Barangay, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed that Paulino Diclas Cayat, 75, married a resident of Purok 4, Licnab heard two gunshots in the vicinity and when he went to check on what happened, he saw the bloodied body of the victim lying on the sidewalk and immediately reported the matter to concerned barangay officials.
The victim was rushed to the Baguio City General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians because of two fatal gunshot wounds on his head and chest.
The firearm used in the incident has yet to be identified by the probers considering the absence of recovered shells in the crime scene and that the motive of the crime is yet unknown.
