CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Concerned uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera raised concern over the alleged gag order and reported harassment and undermining activities of some members of the command group to pressure those who sympathize with embattled SPO3 Alberto C. Tadeo, the devoted traffic enforcer of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) who was transferred to Apayao for doing his job.
Various sources, who requested anonymity for fear of being unceremoniously transferred outside the region, claimed that aside from slowly ordering the transfer of policemen who posted remarks in favor of Tadeo in the social media outside the region, some members of the command group are now trying to research on how to allegedly mislead Camp Crame officials into removing the jurisdiction of City Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan over the local police force for being very vocal against Tadeo’s transfer to Apayao.
Some of the sources claimed that the members of the command group have no intention of honoring the invitation to appear before the regular session of the Baguio City Council on Monday, January 30, 2017, to shed light on the issue using petty reasons of hectic schedules and alleged wrong addressee of the invitation letter.
“Our current PRO-COR officials have already lost their moral ascendancy because of their martial rule being imposed in the regional headquarters as if they are the most untouchable officials of the police. It is high time for our local officials to unite against the grave abuses being committed by our superiors against us as if we are not professionals and we did not swear to serve and protect the people”, the sources said.
The sources added what is happening in the regional headquarters is that those who allegedly commit grave mistakes are the ones being rewarded while those who religiously do their job to serve and protect the people and to implement the law to the fullest without fear or favor are now the ones receiving the flack by being reassigned outside the region simply because they issued remarks in favor of a good job done by the fellow officers.
The sources claimed the morale of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel who are fully aware of the issues that have transpired over the past several weeks regarding the Tadeo case is at its lowest because those who were the ones who committee a graver offense for bringing a vehicle within the number coding zone of the city remain free from being charged with gross neglect of duty and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.
Worst, the sources disclosed what is ironic now is that to justify the gravity of the offense committed by those who posted positive remarks in the social media favoring Tadeo, they are being linked to illegal drugs even if their records are clean just for them to be booted out of the region and suffer the penalty of being a supporter of the good deeds of their colleague.
Even members of the media had a difficult time getting in touch with ranking regional officials to comment on the matter but they have constantly evaded giving remarks after the issuing a misleading press statement.
