LUNA, Apayao – In a commendable effort to alleviate the hardships of yApayao families that were affected by Super Typhoon Egay, Senator Win Gatchalian and brother Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie T. Gatchalian donated one million pesos worth rice assistance in Apayao on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Local Disaster Risk and Reduction and Management Officer (LDRRMO) Joeffrey Borromeo received said 800 sacks rice assistance from Valenzuela City councilors Louie Nolasco, and Gerald Galang, along with representatives from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), Michelle Mabuti and Marilou Capaillo.
Borromeo said that the PDRRMO will ensure that said assistance will reach its intended beneficiaries, with 200 sacks now ferried off to Calanasan town, and the rest to be transported anytime to the other municipalities with households who were identified to be in dire need.
“The P1 million-worth rice assistance is a testament to the Gatchalian brothers’ deep concern for the well-being of the yApayaos, and for this, we are very much grateful,” Borromeo said.
Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. likewise expressed his appreciation to the Gatchalians and the entire Valenzuela City for the assistance extended to the yApayaos. By Maureen Legazpi
