City officials recently congratulated and commended Lyre Anie Pangayan Ngina for winning gold medal in the individual female Waikru and bronze medal in the combat discipline and her coaches Erika Islay Bomogao and Melanie P. Ngina during the International Federation of Muay Associations (IFMA) Youth World Championships held last September 12-22, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a resolution authored by Councilor Arthur Alad-iw, local legislators stated that the young Ngina’s accomplishment and achievement has brought honor and pride to the city worthy of felicitation by the officialdom of the city government and people who are also jubilant over such feat.
Further, her coaches also deserve the necessary felicitation for their direction, instruction and training to their ward Lyre Anie that saw her excel in the world competition.
The 2024 IFMA Youth World Championships is an exceptional gathering showcasing the talents and dedication of youth practitioners from the different parts of the world.
Moreover, the World Youth Championships encompass both the combat and cultural disciplines featuring Waikru, Mai muay and Muay talay.
The age divisions for the world youth championships include all categories from 10 to 17 years for combat disciplines and for cultural disciplines from 8 to 17 years.
In the women’s individual Wai Kru, Ngina, a first year student of the Baguio City National High School (BCNHS), clinched the gold medal and bronze medal in the combat disciplines that brought honor and pride not only to her school but also to the city, the region and the country as a whole.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to Ms. Ngina, her coaches and the BCNHS administration for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
