Preparations for Hipun di Amlag: Agro-Tourism and Industrial Trade Fair which will be held on June 2 to 18, 2025, at Lagawe Public Plaza are in full swing. This event is one of the highlights of Gotad’s economic agency through promoting local enterprises and products in celebration of  59th Founding Anniversary of Ifugao and Gotad ad Ifugao 2025.

Bearing Gotad’s theme, “Gotad di Nitaguwan, Puh- oh- ohaan ya Kipkiphodan (A celebration of culture, solidarity, and progress),” trade fair centers to the municipalities’ agricultural products, tourism and heritage exhibition, and cultural learning and exchanges.

Who will participate?

Noemi Pad-ilon, Agro-Tourism Administrative Aide IV mentioned that the participants  for the agro-tourism booth contest will be the 10 Municipalities in Ifugao including Lagawe, Hingyon, Asipulo, Alfonso Lista, Aguinaldo, Kiangan, Lamut, Tinoc, Banaue, and Hungduan. Mayoyao, on the other hand, will not be able to join this year’s contest because they will be celebrating their Centennial Founding Anniversary on June 2 to June 4.

The industrial trade fair will be participated in by local farming organizations, entrepreneurs, local artists, and other businesses in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

With the trade fair, local tourists and visitors are encouraged to patronize the local produce of the each of the municipalities of Ifugao as generators of economic boost among communities.

Prizes in exchange to their efforts

Furthermore, Darisse A. Taguiam, from the Population Commission of Local Government Unit (LGU)- Lagawe and also the Vice Co-Chairman of Lagawe for Amlag, stated that the winner of the said agro-tourism trade fair will receive PhP 80,000.

“Apart from the winning municipalities, consolation prizes will also be given. Corresponding points will also be given to determine the overall champion. The overall champion will receive a more or less PhP 2.5 million pesos worth of municipal projects from the PLGU,” Taguiam explained.

Moreover, Taguiam added that this year’s competition is a big  challenge for MLGU-Lagawe especially that they are carrying the pressure of being the prizewinner last year.

But despite this pressure, she said that they will showcase beautiful crafts and products that are locally made in Lagawe.

In the Municipality of Asipulo, Dabert Tayaban, Municipal Agriculturist, said that for the booth of Asipulo, they will create a simple design and make use and maximize the materials that are already available for them so long that they can showcase the exceptional beauty and products of their Municipalities.”

Tayaban added: “Asipulo will showcase the products such as rice wine, coffee, vegetable crops, and other processed products as well as handy crafts,”

Suportahan ang Sariling Atin: A call for community engagement and participation

Adent this, the Agro-tourism office encourages the locals and tourists to visit and support their municipalities and the local business during the said event and to come and enjoy the whole duration of activities in Gotad ad Ifugao 2025.//Ariane Mae Lapuz, BSU-DevCom Intern
