LUNA, Apayao – Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. directed provincial government officers to respond immediately to the needs of yApayaos affected by Typhoon Marce and to coordinate with agencies and LGUs to give timely aid.
This is after the province’s OpCen was activated and evacuation centers across the province have been made ready. Apayao is currently under typhoon signal number 3, and one of its municipality, Santa Marcela, is under signal number 4.
In a message to the officers, Bulut reminded the double checking of provisions that were prepositioned in all the towns of the province, asking their assurance that all possible families that will be affected shall be served.
In the 12NN, November 7 report of the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office, headed by Jocelyn Loyon, it showed the number of families displaced in Apayao is now at 327 or 966 individuals. Of said number, 319 are at evacuation centers while 8 are with their relatives.
The number of barangays affected is now at 24. As of yet, there are no reports of damaged houses.
PSWDO said 302 or 888 individuals have already been served and provided basic necessities. They were given family food packs, which include rice, canned goods, coffee, powdered milk, and others.
The number off affected families may increase as the Typhoon intensifies and when reports from other municipalities are submitted.
Governor Bulut reminds all residents to remain alert and to keep themselves informed, adding that their safety is the government’s paramount concern. By APIO Staff
