PUDTOL, Apayao – Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. has called upon legislative bodies to pass ordinances that prioritize the protection of Apayao’s environment, particularly its watershed areas.
In his message during the turnover ceremony of the water supply system of Barangay Lower Maton in Pudtol earlier today, May 15, Gov. Bulut emphasized the critical need for sustainable water sources for future generations.
“Nakababain nga ti Apayao ket river tapos awan iti danum. We must prioritize environmental protection. This is not for me, but for our children,” said Gov. Bulut, highlighting the urgency of the issue.
Apayao Lone District Representative Leah Bulut-Begtang echoed the Governor’s concerns and praised Calanasan’s proactive measures in environmental conservation, especially in safeguarding watershed areas and the Apayao River.
“We need to reforest. We should aim to plant more trees. Sapay kuma ta mapanunut tayo iti masakbayan iti annak tayo tapno addan tu pay iti danum ken kaykayo. Ituloy tayo latta kuma iti napipintas a panagkakadwa ken programa tayo ditoy Apayao,” stated Cong. Bulut-Begtang.
She further urged the community to seek assistance when needed. “Amin nga sulsulinek ket madanun kuma iti serbisyo. Haan kayo mababain nga umasideg nu adda masapol yu iti barbarangay yu,” she stated. By JCM
