TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Governor James Edduba presented the LUMIN-AWA Progress Report during the launching of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, attended by the different government line agencies, including the city led by Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero, at the Kalinga Sports Center on September 2.
Governor Edduba presented his administration’s accomplishments in his two years of office, such as strengthening financial policies for transparent and accountable governance through the issuance of Executive Order No. 12 and organizing the awards and bids committee.
The establishment of the Kalinga People’s Council aimed at fostering participatory governance of all the sectors, thus promoting inclusivity and accountability was also one of their significant accomplishments.
In consonance with their fiscal management, based on their 3-year comparative data on the provincial local income of Kalinga, the provincial government generated an income of PhP234,904,978.51, higher than in 2022 by PhP184,280,666.23 and PhP139,759,499.68 in 2021. He attributed their success to all the collaborative efforts of the local governments in the province in boosting their revenue.
He also highlighted the facilities of the province, ensuring their safety, functionality, and productivity.
In the province infrastructure upgrades, they invested PhP102 million for the Kalinga Children’s Ward, operating room repair, and medicine warehouse construction.
According to him, PhP37 million was allocated for the construction of the new hospital building of Juan M. Duyan Memorial District Hospital in 2023 and another PhP43 million in 2024.
In addition, PhP36 million was allocated for the continuation of the construction of the hospital building of Kalinga Gabriela Mejia Medical Center.
In Tanudan, the province allocated a total of PhP70 million in 2023 and 2024 for the construction of a new hospital building, the Tanudan Municipal Hospital.
Edduba emphasized that his administration would give everyone equal access to health programs and services. The provincial government and the Department of Health also signed an agreement for the warranting of no-balance billing until 2024. PhP94.5 million was secured in health care support for indigent patients through strategic partnership. This is a commitment to healthcare for indigent patients.
Moreover, the establishment of the first ever Malasakit Center in the province was launched in July this year.
The governor also presented the various essential services and programs they funded and highlighted the awards they received through their governance. By Ian Magadang Addatu
