Lingayen, Pangasinan — For bagging gold, silver or bronze medals in national sporting events, young athletes from Pangasinan and their coaches received rewards from Governor Amado I. Espino, III.
The provincial chief executive, on August 3 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, awarded a total of Php508,000 cash incentives to the 53 medalists of Palarong Pambansa, and 26 medalists of Philippine National Games (PNG), including 37 coaches in the said major sporting events of the country.
Cash incentives ranging from Php2,000 to Php5,000 was given to the medalists and their coaches.
Elated over the performance of Pangasinan athletes in the two sports spectacles, Governor Espino assured them of the provincial government’s continuing support to them.
Under the present administration, the sports development thrust of the province is further strengthened thru the creation of the Provincial Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC).
Assisting Governor Espino during the awarding program were PSDMC executive officer Modesto Operania, and the sports coordinators from Department of Education division offices (Pangasinan I, Pangasinan II, Alaminos City, San Carlos City, and Urdaneta City).
Pangasinan shared 4 gold, 7 silver, and 20 bronze medals in the total medal haul of Region 1, which placed 11th in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa held in Vigan City.
On the other hand, team Pangasinan collected 13 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze medals for the 10th place overall ranking in the PNG.
