BAGUIO CITY – The City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) recently urged the officials and employees of the local government to remain committed in performing their respective duties and responsibilities to be able to deliver quality services to the people whom they are mandated to serve amidst the fast changing times.
Assistant City Human Resource Management Officer Edith Dawaten claimed that technology and digitalization have revolutionized the way people do their work that translated to efficiency and effectiveness aside from allowing management to make timely and sound decisions beneficial to the welfare of the greater majority of the populace.
However, she pointed out that what remains to be unchanged among officials and employees of the local government is their commitment to serve the people irregardless of status in society because it is the calling of public service.
The assistant city human resource management officer asserted that the commitment of public servants to their worn duties and responsibilities remain unchanged amidst the rapidly changing times that is why government workers must sustain their commitment to serve the greater interest of the people in the city.
Dawaten was able to witness the transition from the use of typewriters, mammograph or isograph machines among others to the availability of technology and digitalization that resulted to the efficient and effective delivery of services.
She urged government workers to also remain committed in strictly adhering to the implementation of civil service rules and regulations and the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 6713 or the Code of Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, especially during the current election period, to avoid being involved in election-related activities that might compromise their stay in government as they might be penalized ranging from suspension to dismissal from the service.
