ITOGON, Benguet – A 7-year old Grade I pupil died after he allegedly drowned in a swimming pool during the celebration of his birthday at Level 1300, poblacion, here, Saturday.
Chief Inspector Eugene Raymundo, chief of the Itogon Municipal Police Station, identified the fatality as aged 7, Grade 1 pupil, and resident of Itogon, Benguet (name withheld).
Initial police investigation showed that the victim’s family was celebrating is birthday in the said resort when he and his older sibling went to the portion of the adult pool unnoticed by their mother who was in the kiddie pool.
After a few moments, the victim’s older brother went to where his parents were and informed them that the victim allegedly slipped into the larger pool and allegedly drowned.
Concerned citizens immediately rescued the victim and applied first aid treatment before he was rushed to the Notre Dame hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
The victim’s remains was brought to their residence to give him the needed wake and burial.
