TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Members of the Maledda-Tannubong Farmers and Irrigators Association (MTFIA) held their general assembly on March 7, 2025, in Bacayan’s Rice-based Integrated Farm in Sitio Tannubong, Ipil.
The assembly was organized to demonstrate the accomplishments of the Turn-out Service Area Groups (TSAG) of Maledda, Kampa, Matocnang, Mansanita, and Tannubong in canal cleaning, as well as to express their worries about canal and irrigation repair and desilting, and the scheduled irrigation cut-off.
These accomplishments and issues will be consolidated by the designated technician and forwarded to the National Irrigation Administration (NIA)- Kalinga for action.
City Vice Mayor Atty. Dick Bal-o attended the assembly and stated that the city administration will provide all assistance to local farmers. He also encouraged the association members to continue attending assemblies, seminars, and trainings to improve their skills by learning new farming techniques.
Bal-o, alongside Board Member Atty. Danzel Langkit answered questions from farmers and irrigators during the forum.
The MTFIA, led by its association president and Upper Chico River Irrigation System president Michael Lumas-I, has 400 members, all of them are engaged in rice farming. By Darwin Serion
