BAGUIO CITY – A security guard was injured after he was fired upon by responding police operatives when he shot his former girlfriend and at the law enforcers within the vicinity of West Quirino Hill, here, Saturday morning.
Police authorities identified the wounded suspect as Weslie G. Bidoy, of legal age, a security guard and a native of Balbalan, Kalinga while his injured former girlfriend was named as Karen Kate Madriaga Gatchalian, 24, a call center agent and a resident of West Quirino Hill, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the suspect volunteered to accompany her former girlfriend in going home to their residence when he allegedly got irked when the latter refused his proposal for them to mend their ways.
The suspect allegedly got unruly that prompted the victim to text her mother who in turn called the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station No. 2 for police assistance.
When the responding police operatives arrived in the place of incident, the suspect suddenly pulled out his calibre .38 revolver and fired at her former girlfriend then fired at the law enforcers which prompted them to shoot him.
His girlfriend was rushed to the Pines City Doctors Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect was brought by the Baguio Emergency Medical Service to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) where he is now confined for further medical treatment.
Recovered from the crime scene were two calibre .38 revolvers used by the suspect and several spent shells of the same type of firearm.
Probers are still conducting an in-depth investigation on the said case as charges of frustrated murder, illegal possession of firearms among others are set to be filed against the suspect before the city prosecutor’s office.
