Politics remains to be the dirtiest profession in the country amidst claims that some politicians never engaged in mudslinging or whatever dirty tricks that have ensured their victory in the elections. Voters know the numerous dirty tricks that have been employed by politicians and their supporters just to guarantee their victory for them to be able to stay in power and pursue mostly their personal and business interests for their family members and relatives for them to have an option after ending their term in the political arena. For the voters, many of them actually benefitted from the conduct of the recent elections because they were able to receive from the different candidates various tokens, mostly in the form of money, in supposed exchange for their votes. Many of them obligated to the pressure while there were some of them who politely rejected such offers and voted according to their conscience.

The recently concluded May 12, 2025 mid0term elections and a lot of fanfare, mostly in the social media, where everyone had the chance to vice out their opinion for every candidate for the different elect6ed positions. Many of them hurled accusations versus accusations and had a never ending debate as to whom should be the ones that are in power and who deserve the votes of the electorate for the various local positions. Many of the candidates claim that they observed the conduct of their campaign that are above board but voters are the ones that are fully aware who conducted their respective campaigns fairly and according to norms and standards that they want contrary to what is now being protected in the social media. Evidently, incumbent officials maximized the use of government resources to advance their political interests where simple things such as the use of government vehicles and personnel to do thee dirty work in their campaign sorties had been blatant despite their blanket denials now that the elections is over. Many of the politicians hired their respective dirty tricks department to taint bad images of their rivals for the different elected posts while claiming that they adhered to campaigning for their platforms of government. Now tell us, where is the walk the talk there?

Admittedly, there was rampant vote buying in all corners of the country that is why it was the votes that actually gained a lot in the previously concluded elections. Now, it is the turn of those who were able to be successful in their dirty campaign to recover their huge investments that had either been provided by their financiers in exchange  for whatever projects that are not actually beneficial to the greater interest of the people in the areas where they intend to govern in the next three years.

Well, many people were hurt during the campaign trail and we have to live with that because it has been a part of the country’s political culture. Politicians and votes actually never learned their lessons for every election that has been conducted because year in and year out, similar destructive scenarios actually happen whether they like it or not. Politicians should come to the fore with clean hands because they will surely loose their credibility and integrity if they talk about fairness in the campaign when what actually happened was a reversal of sorts. It is unfair for some people to project themselves to be righteous when they are actually not based on what had been happening on the ground. Many politicians try to make it appear that they had been doing their campaign honestly but what actually happened is that their supporters had been the ones doing damaging acts and pronouncing defamatory statements against their rivals. Where is fairness here?

We believe that it is now the time for healing and moving on. If we cannot get over what had happened in the previous elections then you do not deserve to be in public office. If our intention is to get back at our critics and rivals just because we are in power is a blatant display of arrogance vindictiveness and desire to ram to the throats of the people their whims and caprices for whatever purpose.

People do not deserve vindictive, arrogant and obviously underworld officials that is why it is high time for the incoming national and local officials to reflect on what had happened and be circumspect about their drastic decisions. Let us remember that life is likened to a wheel where sometimes, one will be at the top and sometimes down and we do not know when those times will happen, thus, we have to seek the guidance of our Creator when coming up with certain decisions in our life that might have a great impact to the lives of others.

Many of the winners in the recently concluded elections had been calling for unity and cooperation now that the political fever has been over but there are some who seem to threaten their critics and rivals to be ready about the sorts things that will happen which is sign of immaturity and arrogance that people do not actually deserve in the case of public officials who are supposed to be models of service above self.
