QUEZON CITY – Herald Express shared the limelight with other national and Baguio-based community newspapers when it was adjudged as the Best in Business and Economic Reporting weekly category during the annual Community Press Journalism Awards of the prestigious Philippine Press Institute (PPI) held at the Eastwood Richmond hotel on Friday, June 27, 2025.
Herald Express recorded its fourth recognition in the said category after having won the same in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
The Best in Business and Economic Reporting is one of the 6 awards being given by the PPI to top performing community newspapers as part of the Community Press awards being undertaken in partnership with Nickel Asia Corporation and other sponsors, particularly Megaworld corporation, specifically Megaworld hotels and Resorts which is serving as the organization’s hotel partner for this year.
On the other hand, two other Based-based media outfits brought home awards in other categories during the annual PPI event.
Baguio Chronicle bagged the Best in Photojournalism weekly category and Best in Environmental Reporting weekly category while Northern Dispatch won the Best Regional website for Luzon.
The winners in the different daily and weekly categories took home well-designed plaques of recognition from the PPI and its sponsors in recognition of their achievements in the said award categories.
The Philippine Press Institute is a non-stock, non-profit private media organization duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) whose principal mandate is to defend press freedom and promote ethical standards for the professional development of the Filipino journalist.
PPI, the national association of newspapers, was established in 1964 continues to trailblaze numerous initiatives that advance the practice of ethical reporting among journalists, especially those in the community papers operating in the different parts of the country.
