BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan said the local government will accord 2016 Miss International titlist Kylie Verzosa the appropriate recognition and welcome once she comes home to her city.
The Mayor said the city recognizes the achievement of Ms. Verzosa in bringing home the coveted Miss International plum, thus, it is but proper for the government to accord her appropriate welcome rites befitting to her title.
“We will personally bring to her attention that we are proud of her achievement and we will openly welcome her and provide her a motorcade for the people of Baguio to honor her,” Domogan stressed.
However, he claimed the local government will closely coordinate with her handlers to ascertain what are the attached conditions in case the city will decide to hold a program for her, present her in one of the regular Monday flag-raising ceremonies, award her the appropriate recognition and conduct a motorcade for her around the city’s central business district area for the local residents and visitors to have a closer glimpse of her.
Versoza, 24, is a home-grown beauty titlist having been a finalist in the 2015 Bb. Pilipinas before being crowned as Bb. Pilipinas International 2016 and winning this year’s 2016 Miss International crown in Tokyo, Japan last week.
She is a graduate of business management at the Ateneo de Manila University and works as a teacher who teaches English for special purposes and works as an advocate of programs against depression among others.
The city will send her a letter expressing its sincerest congratulations for her achievement and that the people of Baguio are proud of what she was able to achieve in the international scene.
On the other hand, Anthony de Leon, general manager of the Baguio Country Club (BCC), said local tourism industry stakeholders will sponsor an event to honor Ms. Versoza when she comes home.
He said the gathering to be organized by the local tourism industry stakeholders will serve as a thanksgiving party for her well-deserved victory as this year’s Miss International titlist, saying that they will also invite stakeholders to interact with her and take advantage of her presence before she becomes busy with her activities as Miss International.
Local residents are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ms. Versoza in the city to extend their felicitation to her for being crowned as this year’s Miss International.
