Cordillera Administrative Region conducted Battle of the Bands as the culminating activity in celebration of Planet Earth Month with the theme “Invest in our Planet”, recently at Igorot Park, Baguio City. Contestants performed environmental songs composed by local artists in the Cordillera.
EMB-CAR Regional Director Ma. Victoria V. Abrera, in her opening message, expressed her appreciation to the Cordillera’s wealth of natural resources and to the resilient characteristics and musical talents of the people. She likewise acknowledged the support and active participation of schools and other partner stakeholders in the expansive advocacy of the Bureau for a sustained environment. “With this activity, we aim to connect with the people in this campaign sa paraang tayo ay nagkakaintindihan at naipapakita natin ang talento ng mga kabataan”. Abrera said.
Among the judges were Regional Director Ma. Victoria V. Abrera. Atty. Marcos Bias, OIC-Finance Division of DENR -CAR, representing the Office of the Regional Executive Director, Local composers and singers: Mr. Aladin Bag-ayan, known for his popular song, “Soyosoy Di Dagem”, and Mr. Arnold Valle, 2nd placer of the song writing competition Kanshun Di Cordillera organized by EMB-CAR in 2019.
Mr. Bag-ayan showcased his composed song, “Soyosoy Di Dagem” and Mr. Valle rocked the stage with a song. “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran. Likewise, “Sekyad Di Cordillera”, a cultural dance group also livened the stage with an indigenous dance in the region.
Tarakids Band Group garnered the First Place with a cash prize of 8,000 pesos, GrandiFlora Band Group of Saint Louis Boys High for the Second Place with 5,000 pesos, and Sablan Band Group of Benguet National High School for the Third Place with 3,000 pesos. By EMB-CAR
