LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Department of Agriculture – Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR), in collaboration with the Benguet AgriPinoy Trading Center (BAPTC) will be conducting the first Highland Vegetable Trade Fair and Investment Forum on April 27-29 at the BAPTC, Strawberry Fields, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The three-day event aims to present, discuss and resolve issues and concerns pertaining to the development of the vegetable industry as a primary vehicle for regional development.
On the first day, the turn-over and oath taking of the newly elected farmers’ representative to sit in the BAPTC Project Steering Committee (PSC). Also, all the BAPTC Project Steering Committee (PSC) members including the representatives of the Benguet State University, Benguet Local Government Unit, La Trinidad Local Government Unit, Benguet Congressional District and the Farmers’ Representative will be present to grace the event. DA Secretary Proseso J. Alcala will convey the keynote messages.
A Market Matching activity will also be conducted where the farmers will showcase their champion products. It is where the accredited farmers and buyers will meet to have initial negotiations on the demands and supplies for trading and marketing purposes.
The second day focuses on seminars about Good Agricultural Practices and Organic Agricultural Practices.
On the last day, a Post-harvest Technologies Seminar and Workshop and cooking competition will take place.
Meanwhile, farmers are encouraged to file for accreditation in order to have an earlier link with the buyers who are attending the trade fair cum forum. Various vegetable trading industry stakeholders are expected to participate in the three-day event.
