Baguio City – A taho vendor resisted the evident temptations of having to be P150,000 in cash that was placed in a bag that he found within the premises of the Lion’s Head as he opted to instead return the found item and cash to the rightful owner without hesitation.
Manuelito Bonifacio, married with three children, who earns a living by selling taho at the Lion’s Head along Camp 7, Kennon Road, was doing his daily trade when he saw a bag that was left hanging on the Lions Head but did not mind the same as there might be a visitor that have left the same temporarily in the said area.
However, after more than an hour, he noticed that the said bag was still in its place and no one bothered to get it, he decided to take it and look into the contents of the said bag.
To his surprise, the bag contained a huge amount of money and other important documents belonging to the owner.
He was able to find that the bag contained P150,000 in cash but he did not succumb to temptation and instead decided to return the same to the rightful owner.
Bonifacio then contacted the owner through the contact details that were in the documents that were placed in the bag and he was able to return the items and cash.
The taho vendor did not attempt to get the money because what was in his mind was to return to the rightful owner the said found bag aside from fear of karma that may happen to him instead he decides to keep the money to himself and use it for his family’s needs.
What is important to the taho vendor is for him to be able to do good to others that will already satisfy him amidst the difficulties of having to earn a living the hard way.
The owner reportedly expressed gratitude to Bonifacio for his honesty and trustworthiness that he showed when he returned the found bag with the huge amount of money and even offered him a reward, but Bonifacio did not accept the same. HENT
