BAGUIO CITY- Hundreds of residents surrounding the John Hay reservation including the locators within the John Hay Special Economic Zone availed of the free medical and dental check-ups with free legal consultation at the Scout Barrio Gymnasium last October 28, 2017.
JHMC, a responsible government-owned and controlled corporation (GOCC) expanded its mandate to not only a responsible steward of the forest watershed but a dedicated public servant committed to save and make the lives of the less privileged people better within the reservation.
The free medical services were provided by the medical practitioners of Saint Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart under the leadership of its Medical Director, Dr. Paul Adlai B. Quitiquit. A team of forty (40) medical practitioners who are all experts in their own fields provided pediatrics, ob gyne, surgery and medical consultations.
The recipients of the free medical mission also received free multi-vitamins and some prescription medicines for free.
The dental services were provided by Dr. Proserfina Mananig of the Mananig Dental Clinic who herself is a renowned Dentist and owns dental clinics in the City.
Recognized and reputable lawyers from the topnotch roster of the University of Cordilleras – School of Law professors facilitated the free legal consultation, spearheaded by Dean Reynaldo U. Agranzamendez, who personally overseer the event.
The outreach program aims to provide easy access to health care services and legal aide to residents who have limited resources to avail it. The activity was in line with the corporate social responsibility projects of the corporation and a part of the 114th anniversary celebration of the Camp.
Among those who extended support and provision to the outreach program were the John Hay Business Club led by its President, Ms. Maria Teresa Pantaleon, who provided intimate wash and bottled water and the management of the Mercury Drug Store and St Joseph Drug Stores who delivered several medicines and multi-vitamins for the recipients.
The JHMC has been assisting and providing easy health care services to its neighboring communities in the City. Last year, it has expanded its outreach program as far as Gohang and San Fernando, Banaue, Ifugao, where hundreds of residents from the two barangays were provided with the basic necessities like mosquito nets, slippers, educational kits and clothes.
JHMC is a subsidiary of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) which manages the John Hay special economic zone.
