ITOGON, Benguet – The lifeless body of one of the couple that was buried in a landslide at Beda, Luacan, here, two days ago was found under the huge volume of debris that buried them while conducting gold panning activities along the Antamok River Thursday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Nestor Talangcag, 54, married, a pocket miner and a resident and native of Beda, Luacan, Itogon, Benguet.
However, search and rescue operations are still underway to locate the body of his wife, Maureen Talangcag, 57, married as she still remains missing to date.
It can be recalled that the couple and their son were conducting gold panning along a portion of the Antamok River when the mountain slope suddenly collapsed and buried them.
The couple’s son was able to escape from the tragic incident and immediately sought help from concerned authorities for the conduct of the search and rescue operation for his missing parents.
The body of Mr. Talangcag was brought to their residence for him to be given a decent wake while rescuers are still doing their best to locate the body of the missing individual. By Dexter A. See
