SABANGAN, Mountain Province – Some one hundred eighty three board feet of alleged illegally sawn lumber were confiscated by combined police operatives and intelligence agents during an anti-illegal logging operation at Polis, Data, here, Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Allen S. Ocden, provincial director of the Mountain Province Police Office, said the confiscated illegal lumber had a total market value of P4,575 based on existing purchase price of the forest products.
Ocden issued a stern warning against those individuals who continue to ruin the province’s good state of the environment because police and environment officials will not hesitate to go after them and file the appropriate charges for them to suffer the consequences of their illegal actions.
The confiscated illegal lumber were brought to the Sabangan Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and safekeeping until it will be appropriately disposed of through existing laws, rules and regulations.
