SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union– The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) boasted a remarkable 91 percent crime clearance efficiency in June 2024, showcasing their success in maintaining peace and order in the Ilocos Region.
PRO 1 significantly dented the region’s illegal drug trade.
They arrested 116 offenders and confiscated a substantial amount of narcotics, including over 13,254.830 grams of dried marijuana and 81,553.659 grams of shabu, with a combined street value exceeding P556,155,457.40.
Authorities apprehended or secured the surrender of 12 individuals connected to criminal gangs.
Three gang members were arrested in police operations, while nine others opted to surrender.
Following the government’s Letter of Instructions (LOI) Kontra Boga, PRO 1 conducted 17 operations targeting unlicensed firearms.
These operations resulted in the confiscation of 12 loose firearms, the arrest of 16 individuals, and the filing of 23 cases in court.
LOI Kontra Boga aims to reduce the proliferation of unregistered guns in civilian hands and among criminal groups.
PRO 1’s Oplan Katok, a program focused on the voluntary surrender of firearms, yielded positive results.
Through 1,567 operations, authorities collected 90 surrendered firearms, recovered 13 firearms, and received 32 more for safekeeping.
PRO 1 successfully apprehended eight most wanted persons without any reward offered, alongside 334 other wanted individuals.
The Ilocos Region police also cracked down on illegal gambling activities.
They conducted 50 operations, arresting 180 offenders and confiscating P59,438.00 in bet money and gambling paraphernalia.
These operations resulted in 35 cases filed in court.
PRO 1’s counterinsurgency efforts proved successful.
They secured the surrender of 16 communist terrorist group (CTG) members who brought five firearms with them.
Additionally, 13 communist front organization (CFO) members surrendered, yielding three firearms.
