BUGUIAS, Benguet – A 52-year old Indian businessman died after his motorcycle was bumped by a van along the national highway at Km. 73, Amgaleygey, here, Saturday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Kumar Paramjit, 52, married, businessman and a resident of Bonglo, Paoay, Atok, Benguet while the suspect was named as Sardie Darisan Sadao, 33, married, driver by profession, and a resident of Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the motorcycle and the van were moving towards the direction of Baguio City when the van driver attempted to overtake the motorcycle.
However, the van driver allegedly miscalculated the distance between the two vehicles causing his vehicle to bump the motorcycle that resulted to its being sprawled on the road inflicting multiple head injuries to the foreigner.
The victim was rushed to the Northern Benguet District Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while the driver of the van was arrested by combined police operatives and that the van was impounded for evidentiary purposes.
The case is still subject to further investigation by the responding police operatives while the victim’s cadaver is awaiting the arrival of his relatives.
