The quick response of PROCOR Cops has resulted in the arrest of a suspect for illegal possession of a firearm in Paracelis, Mt. Province on December 20, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO ASPERO BAZAR, the suspect was identified as Conrado Polito Sumalag, 30 years old, and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Paracelis, Mt. Province
According to Paracelis MPS, they received a phone call from a concerned citizen asking for immediate police assistance informing them that a male person was under the influence of liquor sleeping dead drunk with a short firearm tacked on his waist at the vacant house along the Paracelis-Natonin National Road.
Immediately, the personnel of Paracelis MPS responded to the area and strategically approached the person resembling the man being described by the concerned citizen. Upon approaching, the police officers cautiously pulled out his short firearm tacked on his waist. Thereafter, the male person was awakened by the responding personnel.
When asked for pertinent documents of the said firearm, suspect Sumalag failed to show any thus prompting the police officers to arrest him.
Seized from the suspect is one (1) caliber .38 revolver loaded with two (2) rounds of ammunition.
The arrested suspect and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Paracelis MPS for proper documentation and disposition while charges for RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act are now filed against him.
