BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera Regional Population Executive Board (RPEB-CAR), chaired by NEDA-CAR Regional Director Susan A. Sumbeling, held its regular first quarter meeting on March 23, 2023 to discuss regional concerns and strategies on population management and migration, highlighting the creation of an information sharing system (ISS) on migration and development in CAR.
The ISS shall guide evidence-based migration and development policies and plans for better targeted and designed interventions for OFWs and their families towards maximization of the contributions of migration to regional development as mainstreamed in the Cordillera Regional Development Plan 2023-2028. The ISS also intends to centralize IEC materials, knowledge products, and government portals for OFs and OFWs in the region.
A one-day workshop in April 2023 will be conducted to discuss data collection and management procedures, data requests, analysis, and research, service referral and delivery, and data privacy and security concerns.
A resolution enjoining local government units to create or designate population officers was also endorsed to the RDC for approval. This shall aid LGUs towards full devolution of population management programs in the region.
The NEDA-CAR serves as the chairperson of the RPEB-CAR, a support committee under the Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) tasked to coordinate planning and implementation of population management and migration policies, programs, projects and activities (PPAs) in the region.
