City officials requested the chairpersons of concerned committees of the local legislative body, together with the representatives from different concerned city and national offices, to schedule and conduct an inspection on the activities being implemented in several parks located along Lualhati and Pacdal barangays.
Under Resolution No. 450, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the proposed inspection of the various park projects will be led by the chairpersons of the Committee on Public works; Committee on Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Cultural Communities; Committee on Urban Planning, Lands and Housing; and the Committee on Barangay Affairs, together with the representatives of the Department of Public works and Highways – Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR), the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO), the City Engineering Office (CEO), the City Permits and Licensing Division – City Mayor’s Office and the contractor of the ongoing projects in the area.
The body directed the said committees and offices to submit their comprehensive report to the council after the commencement of the said inspection of the projects.
Earlier, considered by the council were the manifestations of concerned barangay officials of Lualhati and Pacdal relative to allegations on their alleged involvement on the different activities conducted in some parks located along the said barangays.
During the recent deliberations conducted for the said purpose, the councilors agreed for the conduct of an inspection of several park projects located along Lualhati and Pacdal barangays relative to issues on business permits; collection of parking fees; ongoing construction projects and conduct of livelihood programs in the said area and that a task force be created for the said purpose.
The comprehensive report of the said task force will be subject to evaluation and assessment by the body where appropriate legislations will be derived to address whatever recommendations and suggestions that will be formulated.
However, Acting City Mayor Faustino A. Olowan vetoed the said resolution for the same is unimplementable.
