Itogon, Benguet – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) commemorates the 35th Civil Registration Month (CRM) this February with the theme, “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System.” Declared through Presidential Proclamation No. 682, CRM serves as a crucial reminder of the essential role civil registration plays in every citizen’s life. The observance encourages individuals to register vital life events, such as births, marriages, deaths, and other significant statistics. This ensures that every Filipino has access to essential services and can contribute to national development through accurate and timely data.
In observance of CRM, PSA-Benguet, in collaboration with Tocmo Integrated School and hosted by the Municipal Civil Registrar (MCR) of Itogon, organized a series of activities designed to educate the youth on the importance of civil registration. The event, held at Tocmo Integrated School, included an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign alongside a Poster and Slogan-Making Activity.
Jovieline L. Ambojno, Registration Officer I, and Tagaban C. Aquino, Registration Officer II, led the IEC activities as part of PSA-Benguet’s initiative to reach out to students and raise awareness about civil registration’s significance. The IEC campaign featured informative sessions focused on various aspects of civil registration services. Participants learned about the importance of registering vital events, including Delayed Registration, Annotations, and basic concepts and procedures for civil registration, such as recording births, deaths, and marriages.
In addition, the Poster and Slogan-Making Activity allowed students from Grades 9, 10, and 11 to express their creativity while reflecting on the theme of civil registration. The students created visually engaging posters and impactful slogans, which were judged based on relevance to the theme, creativity, originality, and overall presentation.
In conclusion, the event was a success in engaging students and fostering a deeper understanding of the vital role of civil registration. PSA-Benguet continues to underscore its commitment to promoting an accurate, secure, and inclusive Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System, which plays a crucial part in building a stronger, more resilient, and future-ready Benguet.
