ITOGON, Benguet – The municipal government recently lined up simple but meaningful week-long activities for the celebration of the town’s 122nd founding anniversary as part of the ongoing efforts to gradually and safely go back to the conduct of face-to-face gatherings with the easing up of community quarantine restrictions.
The theme of this year’s founding anniversary celebration is “Sama-samang Pagsusumikap Patungo Sa Pag-unlad.”
The celebration will kick off with the conduct of a 2-day fun shoot at the 1300L in Poblacion on November 18-19, 2022 which will be exclusively for Itogon-based law enforcers, personnel of the municipal government and members of the barangay peacekeeping action teams (BPATs).
On November 21, 2022, the municipal government will be holding the traditional thanksgiving and opening rites starting with a thanksgiving mass followed by the traditional ‘kading’ in front of the municipal hall.
Various livelihood associations from the different barangays will also have a chance to showcase their respective products in their respective booths in front of the municipal hall during the week.
There will also be the judging of photographs and video entries for the photograph and video-making contest at the municipal function hall simultaneous with the holding of the Battle of the Bands open category at the municipal gymnasium.
On November 22, 2022, barangays will have the chance to feature their respective performances, among other activities, during the Barangay Day which will start with a parade from the Itogon Central School to the municipal gymnasium followed by an ecumenical service and the program proper.
Itogon’s 122nd founding anniversary on this date will be highlighted by the cultural presentations of the various ethnic at the municipal gymnasium.
November 22, 2022 is also declared as a special non-working holiday in the whole municipality for the celebration of the town’s founding anniversary.
On November 23, 2022, which has also been declared a special non-working day in the whole Benguet in time for the celebration of the province’s 122nd founding anniversary, horseracing enthusiasts in the municipality will have the chance to participate in the Domba ni Kavajo which will be held in the trails in Dalupirip.
On November 24, 2022, best barangay implementers, winners of the barangay-based sportsfest, winners of the photography and video-making contests, winners of the Domba ni kavajo and winners of the fun shoot will be recognized during the scheduled Recognition Day.
Further, there will also be a 4×4 off-road enduro challenge at 1300L in barangay Poblacion where participants from other parts of the province are welcome to join the said event.
There will also be invitational and friendship games to be held at the municipal gymnasium on the same day to help in establishing closer ties between the municipality and other local governments inside and outside the province.
On November 25, 2022, residents and visitors alike will be invited to partake of the famous local coffee during a coffee break in front of the municipal hall which will also serve as the closing ceremony of the week-long celebration of the town’s founding anniversary.
