TABUK City, Kalinga – College graduates will now have a better chance at finding a job with the help of the JobStart, a program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to enhance the employability of the youth.
Aiming to provide soft/core skills training with one-on-one coaching, technical training, and internship, at least 80 qualified senior high school and college graduates have officially started 10-day training (face-to-face and online).
After the training, the trainees will be assigned to a private agency or office for 66 days of paid technical work and 44 days of internship.
Beneficiaries will receive a stipend amounting to P400/day and P200 transportation allowance during the duration of the 10-day training.
Another P400/day plus P100 transportation allowance is given during technical work, and at least 75% of the current minimum wage is provided as incentive during internship days.
The city government, through the Public Employment Services Office headed by Loyda Saboy, is currently in close coordination with the concerned private agencies to facilitate the screening and registration of would-be beneficiaries.
To qualify for the program, a JobStart trainee must be a Filipino citizen; 18 to 24 years old, have reached at least high school level; and not in education, in employment, or training at the time of the registration.
