BUGUIAS Benguet July 24 – Judge Jonathan C. Segundo of the Municipal Trial Court (MCT) of Mankayan challenged newly-inducted members of the Company Advisory Council (CAC) of the Benguet Provincial Public Safety Company (BPPSC) to commit themselves in rendering service to guarantee a safer place to live, work and do business.
Judge Segundo was the guest of honor and speaker as well as the inducting officer of the CAC members in simple ceremonies held at the Camp Dennis Molintas in barangay Bangao here Friday morning.
The CAC is chaired by Dr. Dempsey O. Depayso, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education of the La Trinidad-based King’s College of the Philippines and co-chaired by Apolinario Bagano, Executive Assistant of Gov. Nestor B. Fongwan. The members are Ms. Carmen Gavino of the business sector – secretary, Mr. Epharaim Gillies of the labor sector, Mr. Ronald C. Kimakim of the business sector, Rev. William L. Mani of the religious sector, Engr. Johnny Carlos of the municipal planning and development office of Buguias, boardmember Concepcion Balao of the provincial government, councilor Rafael Palasi of the legal service, Mr. Denver Bastingo of MPBC-DZWT and this writer.
Judge Segundo likened the commission of the CAC members to the commissioning of God to Joshua in the Bible, thus, the CAC members must strive for excellent service with determination and commitment in order to achieve the benefit of a peaceful and prosperous place for the people to live.
He said that being one of the best in their respective fields of profession, the CAC members must also practice respect to their fellow members and the people of the community so that they will be able to achieve what has been enshrined for the benefit of the greater welfare of the majority.
According to Judge Segundo, the people of Benguet deserve to live in a peaceful and prosperous community, thus, concerned stakeholders must jointly work together in realizing the ultimate goal of the safest place to live, work and do business.
Superintendent Jonathan G. Calixto, commanding officer of the BPPSC, said the company will continue to work with the CAC members in sustaining peace and order in its areas of jurisdiction, assuring that the police will continue to be mindful of the greater interest of the majority of the populace, especially in reducing criminality and keeping the people safe from any untoward incident.
Judge Segondo also called on the CAC members to learn how to read, obey the law, follow the law to the fullest and be sensitive about the needs of the people in the community in order to gain the respect of the people to the advocacy of the Philippine National Police as a highly credible, efficient and effective police organization by the year 2030.
However, the judge asserted that if stakeholders can do the job now, then they must strive for the best and sustain the gains of peace and order in the whole province being one of the most peaceful provinces in the country today and the future.
