KABAYAN, Benguet – Combined police operatives and members of the barangay peacekeeping action team (BPAT) were recently able to rescue a hiker who had alleged difficulty of breathing while scaling the trails of the Mount Pulag National Park.
Earlier, the Kabayan Municipal Police Station received a call from a tour guide who reported that a hiker needed emergency assistance because of alleged difficulty of breathing while scaling the Mount Pulag trails.
Upon receipt of the said information combined police operatives, BPAT volunteers and members of the Mount Pulag Eco-tour Guides and porters Association immediately responded to the scene where they created an improvised stretcher and carried the patient for more than four hours passing through challenging terrains until they were able to reach their rented home stay at sitio Babalac where they were able to administer first aid to the said hiker.
Subsequently, the Kabayan MPS officers transported the patient to Dennis Molintas District Hospital for appropriate medical treatment. The swift response and coordinated efforts of the rescue teams highlight the commitment of the Cabalyero cops to ensuring the safety and well-being of tourists in the region. By Dexter A. See
