LAMUT, Ifugao – A 32-year old barangay kagawad was hurt after he was allegedly mauled and threatened by a neighbour while inside their house at Ambasa, here, Monday afternoon.
Ifugao police officials identified the victim as Renie Hab-I Pablo, 32, single, farmer, Barangay Kagawad while the suspect was named as Cristobal Licnachan, and both a residents of Ambasa, Lamut, Ifugao.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was on his way home when hhe was confronted by the suspect while passing by the place where they were having a drinking spree with some companions due to an alleged old grudge.
However, the victim ignored having a longer conversation with the suspect because the latter was under the influence of liquor.
While the victim was about to come out of his room after changing his clothes, he was met by a punch from the suspect who waited for him and attempted to strangulate him after falling on the ground but the victim’s mother was able to pacify them by hitting the suspect with a piece of wood on his buttocks.
The victim was able to escape from the crime scene through the back door but the suspect barged into the house and threatened the victim’s 13-year old niece.
A case of attempted homicide and violation of the provisions of the Anti-Child Abuse Act is being readied for filing against the suspect before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
