BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently approved the request of Kagitingan barangay to use a portion of Lapu-lapu Street within the jurisdiction of the said barangay for the conduct of a fund raising activity for a period of thirteen days from December 20, 2024 to January 1, 2025 subject to conditions.
Under Resolution No. 696, series of 2024, the Committee on Market, trade, Commerce and Agriculture, in its 2nd endorsement dated November 25, 2024, recommended the favorable of the said barangay request for the use of a portion of Lapu-lapu Street within the jurisdiction of Kagitingan barangay which shall be for a period of 13 days from December 20, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
Further, the proponent shall first secure a clearance or certification from the City Engineering Office (CEO) over the use of the aforesaid street and other necessary requirements and clearances and subsequently submit a terminal report for the body at the end of the proposed fund raising event.
Earlie, the council considered Barangay Resolution No. 36, series of 2024 of Kagitingan barangay that approved the fund raising activity to be located along a portion of Lapu-lapu Street in Kagitingan barangay from December 20, 2025 to January 1, 2025.
Moreover, the Kagitingan barangay council convened and authorized the barangay’s fundraising endeavor to contribute in generating additional and income for the same to be provided with its constituents who are trying to make both ends meet throughout the holidays.
The council claimed that the fees for the spaces that will be used for the barangay fund raising event shall be P100 per day for the period December 20, 2024 to January 1, 2025 amounting to P1,300 per participant with the pre-registration and registration fee to be paid in advance.
It added that the space shall have a measurement of 2 meters by 2 meters and be limited to one person per stall. The spaces are not transferable and any violation would result to the imposition of a fine of three times the rental fee and will disqualify concerned parties from participating in the said event.
The body stipulated that the proceeds of the fund raising activity should cover the purchase of uniforms for senior citizens, women’s organizations, Lupong Tagapamayapa and maintaining the closed circuit television cameras of the barangay.
The council asserted that all illegal goods, including toy flare guns, firecrackers and pirated CDs and DVDs, are prohibited from being sold during the said fund raising activity.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Kagitingan barangay council, concerned barangay officials and offices of the local government for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
