TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In preparation for the establishment of infrastructure projects to be implemented through the KALAHI-CIDSS-PAMANA of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Cordillera, an orientation and training on procurement process was given today for the 22 partner barangays.
These barangays, which will each receive PhP1.2M from the DSWD include Agbannawag, Amlao, Bagumbayan, Bulanao Centro, Bulo, Calaccad, Cudal, Dupag, Gobgob, Guilayon, Nambaran, New Tanglag, Calanan, Dilag, Ipil, Lucog, Magnao, Nambucayan, Naneng, Lacnog West, Lacnog East, and San Juan. They were identified by the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) on the basis of previous and on-going conflict.
Projects identified consist of concreting of farm to market roads, construction of day care centers, drainage canals, perimeter fence, barangay health centers, water works and spring development.
To make sure that fund will be used based on its purpose, a Barangay Development Council- Technical Working Group (BDC-TWG) was formed by the DSWD and this include project preparation team, procurement team, project implementation team, monitoring and inspection team, operations and maintenance team, grievance team, as well as an assigned bookkeeper, assistant bookkeeper, secretary and treasurer.
The DSWD represented by Florence Baniaga, Community Procurement Officer, who also served as the speaker on procurement process reminded the partner barangays to open bank accounts for the downloading of fund. Abdul Malik Sairola, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) secretary of the city government spoke about the comprehensive bidding process.
