BAGUIO CITY June 04 – One thousand one hundred ninety-six local jobs will be offered to jobseekers on June 12 right in time for the Kalayaan Jobs Fair at the University of the Cordilleras (UC), in connection with the country’s 117th Independence Day Celebration.
Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena disclosed that top job vacancies for Kalayaan Jobs Fair are; Customer Service Representatives, Call Center Agents,Technical Support Representatives, Cashiers,Merchandiser, Bagger, Real Estate Consultant, Sales Clerk/ Selling clerks, Porter/Deliver/ Helper, and Stock Clerk .
Jalbuena said that as of June 3, 2015 there are 12 local companies who have already confirmed to participate with more than 1,000 vacancies are up for grabs to job applicants. There are still employers that will confirm their participation to the Jobs Fair in coming days.
He also added that some companies would be hiring on the spot, thus jobseekers must be ready with their pre-employment requirements or documents usually being asked by employers, such as resume, diploma, clearances, transcript of record, certificates of training and employment (if any). Jobseekers are reminded that UC Theater opens at 7:30 a.m.
Director Jalbuena encourages jobseekers to have their pre-registration on June 8-11, 2015 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at DOLE Baguio-Benguet Field Office located at Cabinet Hill, Baguio City for job skills matching. The pre-registration will help the jobseekers for their skills, educational background and experience be matched to job vacancies available on Kalayaan Day.
This year’s Independence Day commemorative theme, “Kalayaan 2015: Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot-Kamay na ng Bayan” reflects the efforts of DOLE towards decent and productive employment, social protection for vulnerable workers, sustained industrial peace and labor justice for all.
Department of Labor and Employment Secretary explains in her Kalayaan message, “It serves to remind us to act together as officials and employees of the Department and to remain true and focused on our reforms so that those who will succeed us in the years to come will already have a sound platform with a solid foundation to build on and pile up more gains.”
She added, “Our gift to all Filipinos this Independence Day is to bring inclusive growth through decent work. Let us work together to multiply this gift.”
The Department of Labor and Employment and the City Government of Baguio through Public Employment Service Office is spearheading this year’s Kalayaan Jobs Fair, along with the University of the Cordilleras, Philippine Information Agency, Herald Express and ABS-CBN. By Julienne Fortunato
