The province’s rich culture, history, heritage and ecotourism sites will be given a rare chance to be aggressively promoted worldwide following the acceptance of the provincial government of the hosting of the long gown competition of Miss Earth 2022 on November 18, 2022.
Gove. James Edduba and Sed G. Miranda, representative and account executive of Carousel Productions, Inc., formally sealed the agreement for Kalinga’s hosting of the long gown competition of Miss Earth where Kalinga will serve as one of the provinces that will host the various events lined up for this year’s international beauty pageant emphasizing on the importance of preserving and protecting Mother Earth.
Some 20 to 25 Miss Earth beauties coming from the different parts of the world will be visiting the province for 3 days to showcase Kalinga’s rich culture and traditions, including the numerous ecotourism destinations, which will be beneficial in providing added international exposure to the said must-see destinations.
Carousel Productions, Inc. conceptualized, organized and launched Miss Earth in 2001 as an international environmental event that channels the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool in promoting environmental awareness and ecotourism.
Edduba disclosed that the international beauties will be visiting the Awichon village in Lubuagan town to witness the work of art of local and national artists and the old Kalinga village for them to appreciate the way of life of the indigenous peoples in the countryside.
Further, the governor added that the beauties will also be showcasing the garments of Kalinga during the long gown competition that will be held at the province’s gymnasium for the appreciation of the audience on site and those who will be viewing the pageant through live streaming.
According to him, the beauties will also be actively involved in a tree planting event and other preliminary activities that will help in promoting Kalinga as a premier ecotourism destination in the country for foreign and domestic tourists wanting to explore the hidden beauty of nature in the different municipalities.
Edduba expressed the gratitude of the provincial government to the organizers of the prestigious international beauty pageant that focus on instilling awareness to the people on the importance of preserving and protecting the environment for the benefit of future inhabitants for considering Kalinga as one of the hosts of the long gown competition.
He assured the organizers that the province will be ready to welcome and host the participating beauties and their entourage during their 3-day stint in Kalinga for the said competition for them to experience the rich culture and traditions of the people aside from being exposed to new ecotourism destinations that will entice them to frequent the province in the future.
The local chief executive underscored that the province’s weaving industry will also have a chance to be promoted during the said event because weaving is one of the age-old sources of livelihood of the people that was passed on to the present generation of indigenous peoples belonging to the province’s 47 sub-tribes.
