In order to resolve the arising problems of the displaced market vendors who are currently using the provincial road along Bulanao Public Market, Provincial Governor James S. Edduba, Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac, and City Mayor Darwin Estrañero agreed to formulate solutions that will address the issues aired during the previous Kapehan.
This morning, the governor and the vice governor convened the 122 stall owners and members of the Bulanao Market Vendors Association to gather their opinions and come up with an immediate solution to their concerns. They also visited the site to see the actual situation.
During the meeting, Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac informed that last night, he and the governor met with the city mayor and altogether agreed to assist the vendors. The Vice Governor with the authority of the Governor guaranteed that no displaced vendor will be left behind.
“Maikkan kayo iti nasayaat nga pwesto. Isimpa tayo nga iplastar dagiyay stalls tapnu maaccommodate kayo amin. Awan iti maiwalin. Awan iti mabati. Daytuy nga aksyon ket isu iti panangbigbig mi iti kooperasyon yo nga nangtungpal kadagiti kasapulan nga aramiden to give way iti development iti Bulanao Public Market.”- Baac said..
Governor James S. Edduba also informed that the PLGU is eyeing to put an additional lane along the Provincial Road if there be available funds and ensured that toilets or comfort rooms will also be in place for the stall owners.
“Kitaen tayo nga usto daytuy pannakabil iti CR with the help of the Provincial Engineering Office. We will also make sure nga adda tu iti mang-mentenar. Nu adda pay iti pondo iti probinsiya ket nayunan tayo pay diyay other lane iti kalsada tapnu nalaw-lawa iti serviceable roads tayo.”
Each stall owner will be provided with a comfortable, back-to-back temporary structure (stall) with an initial area of 4 meters by 6 meters or 4 meters by 5 meters depending on the availability of the proposed site. The center of the provincial road was the identified strategic area to put up the stalls to avoid the disturbance of nearby houses. The location also provides enough space for consumers and access to traffic.
The Provincial Engineering Office will be responsible for building the stalls including its electrical, and water works that will be used until the development of the Bulanao Public Market is finished, while the Provincial Legal Office is charged with the creation and execution of the Memorandum of Agreement that will be made between the PLGU and the stall owners as to its use, and regulation. Stall owners agreed with the imposition of fees for its maintenance. A minimum fee will be collected to cover the stall rental, water, and electricity charges.
With the said action, stall owners will soon be able to sell their products even at night. “Mabalin kayo tun aglako enggana rabii ta adda iti silaw yo. Kitaen tayo nu aniya iti mabalin nga aramiden to ensure iti safety iti vendors and vendees at night with the help of the PLGU, CLGU, BLGU, and PNP ” -Baac added. By J Baston/C Banao
