All health offices and health centers in Kalinga came together today, September 22, to plan the massive week-long vaccination effort dubbed ‘Bakunahang Bayan’ to increase booster vaccination rates.
Kalinga is joining the simultaneous nationwide activity in support to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call to achieve 50% booster coverage of the population in his first 100 days in office.
From September 26-30, 2022, all health offices and health centers of the city, the municipalities, and the province will mount vaccination activities designed to reach out to remaining unvaccinated and unboostered individuals.
“Isuyod tayo nga talaga. Biruken tayo dagiyay haan pay nga vaccinated,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr. Edward Tandingan.
He stressed once again the importance of COVID-19 vaccination, pointing out that vaccination is one of the main reasons that Tabuk saw mostly mild and asymptomatic cases during the spike in infections three months ago. “Definitely dakkel diay epekto na diay panagbakuna tayo,” he said.
Kalinga targets to jab 4,735 individuals with their booster shot during the ‘Bakunahang Bayan.’ Tabuk, in particular, targets to cover 2,488 individuals or equivalent to daily target of 498 individuals.
The City Health Services Offices and the four health centers have planned vaccination drives in barangays, schools, workplaces, and marketplaces, all in an effort to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to residents.
All individuals aged 12 and older are eligible to get their booster dose; it is not yet being administered to children aged five to eleven.
