TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Youth sectors in the province joined the call to fight insurgencies and uphold peace and unity through a “Walk for Peace” event spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Kalinga earlier today, March 25.
The event aimed to educate and inform the youth participants about the deceptive recruitment tactics used by the communist group and provide an opportunity to engage them in the fight against communist recruitment and insurgency.
Co-facilitated by the Kalinga provincial government, Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO), the 1503rd MC, and other joint organizations, the event was attended by different colleges, universities, and youth organizations in the province, including Kalinga State University, St Louis College of Bulanao, KCST, Kalinga Apayao Youth Organization, ROTC, Youth Mobile Force, and Tabuk City scholars.
The walk began at the Rotary marker Bulanao and ended at the Kalinga Astrodome, where the participants were seen carrying placards and signboards denouncing the violent and misleading tactics used by communist groups to recruit the youth. This was highlighted with the burning of replica CPP-NPA-NDF flags and concluded with the signing of their Covenant of Support.
The “Walk for Peace” showcased the strong solidarity among the youth and government organizations in promoting peace and security, highlighting their determination to end the cycle of deception and violence caused by the CPP-NPA in the province.
