BONTOC, Mountain Province – 35 kidney patients undergoing dialysis treatment at the Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH) received cash assistance from the provincial government on July 21, 2020.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. handed an amount of PhP 2,598 each to the beneficiaries. The distribution of cash aid was witnessed by Provincial Health Officer Carolyn D. Yawan, BoGH Supervising Administrative Officer Nitz Lampac and GAD Focal Person Joecan L. Basan.
The cash assistance came from the proceeds of the walk-for-a-cause organized by the provincial government’s Gender and Development Council as part of this year’s Women’s Day celebration last March.

“The amount maybe small but we hope that it will lessen your burden and will at least help you as you undergo your treatment. Rest assured that we, your officials will do what we can to continue improve the services of our hospital. We are also praying that this current health crisis will pass so that we can easily find ways and means to help you,” Lacwasan said.
According to Lampac, the charity event generated a total amount of PhP 90,930 which was equally distributed to the identified dialysis patients.
Meanwhile, the recipients expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the provincial government since it is yearly organizing charity events to help them.
“The amount will help us a lot. I will use the money for my fare in coming to the hospital during my dialysis schedule,” one recipient said.
