LUNA, Apayao – A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed on March 3, 2025, at the Provincial Government Compound in San Isidro, Luna, Apayao, granting KRRS Machine Shop in Flora another round of technological support through the Department of Science and Technology’s Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (DOST-SETUP).
The agreement was formalized between DOST-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR), the Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO-Apayao), and KRRS Machine Shop, represented by its proprietor, Antonio A. Marzo.
Through the program, KRRS Machine Shop will acquire a ProAlignment System, Heavy Duty Lifters, Wheel Balancer, Engine Hoist/Crane, Air Compressor, Pneumatic Grease Filler, and Pneumatic Oil Extractor. These gears are expected to improve service quality, increase productivity as well as efficiency.
KRRS Machine Shop first benefited from DOST-SETUP in 2015, which enabled it to modernize operations and expand its capabilities. Now with a second round of support, the shop is set to further strengthen its capacity to meet growing customer demand.
According to Engr. Rona Mae Bautista, Science Research Specialist II of DOST-Apayao, the impact of these upgrades will be evaluated through key indicators such as increased production output, reduced processing time, improved product quality, and revenue growth. It is also expected to generate employment opportunities and improve customer satisfaction.
