LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal council granted the request of the organizer of the commercial trade fair at the parking area along Km. 5 for an extension of the ongoing exhibition in the area to allow the company to recover investments it infused in the said operation.
The said commercial trade fair was part of this year’s Strawberry Festival activities was supposed to lapse on April 23, 2023 but the organizer was granted the requested extension up to May 15, 2023.
The organizer informed municipal officials in the request for extension that the 139 stalls that had been readied for the commercial trade fair had not been actually filled up as only a maximum of 70 stalls had been actually occupied for the said purpose.
The municipal government allowed the conduct of the commercial trade fair at the parking area to be part of the activities lined up for this year’s Strawberry Festival that commenced last March 31, 2023 to serve as part of the sources of revenue that will defray the expenses for the conduct of the month-long crowd-drawing event of the municipality.
Municipal officials found reason in the aforesaid request and granted the extension of operation of the commercial trade fair up to the middle of next month to allow the organizer to recover the investments that had been infused in the said commercial activity.
The municipal government expressed hope that with the granted extension of operation, the commercial trade fair organizer will be able to recover the investments to ensure the sustainability of the same in the future considering that it is serving as one of the major sources of revenue that will defray the expenses incurred in the annual conduct of the Strawberry Festival.
Aside from the commercial trade fair, another marketing event of the festival is the Strawberry Lane which is usually established at the municipal park where strawberry-inspired products from the town’s 16 barangays are displayed for the public to patronize the same.
The municipal government is encouraging residents and visitors alike to drop by the commercial trade fair area and patronize the various products being sold there to help the events organizer recoup the investments in the conduct of the activity.
Trade fairs usually form part of crowd-drawing events in the various parts of the country because these serve as part of the income-generating aspect of the different festivals for the organizers to be able to defray the expenses that will be incurred in running crowd-drawing events such as the Strawberry festival and other similar events with such magnitude.
Commercial events that are part of the lined up activities for these events usually serve as the source of the prizes for the winners of the various contested events.
