La Trinidad, Benguet June 10 – The municipality recorded another confirmed Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 case as a result of the aggressive contact tracing being done on the close contacts of the earlier confirmed case in the municipality.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda said that the latest COVID patient in the municipality is a 28-year old male, a truck helper, who is a resident of Little Kibungan, Puguis barangay.
He added that the patient is an alleged close contact of the 22-year old truck helper, who is a resident of Botiwtiw, Balili barangay, that earlier tested positive for COVID after having a history of travel to Cubao, Quezon City several times since May 31, 2020.
The local chief executive claimed that the confirmed COVID patients in the municipality and the 44-year old truck driver who is a resident of Tuba, Benguet had close contact with each other in a private vegetable trading center in Puguis barangay before testing positive for the deadly virus.
Mayor Salda ordered the conduct of continuous contract racing on the close contacts of all the patients while the decision to lockdown the public and private vegetable trading centers will be decided in an upcoming meeting.
However, he disclosed that Little Kibungan will be locked down in addition to Sitio Botiwtiw to allow the conduct of aggressive contact racing to ascertain the first, second and third level contacts of the patients and for them to be provided with the immediate medical attention and swab test.
