A laborer was arrested in a check point for violation of R.A 10591, the Illegal Possession of Fire Arm and Ammos Law on July 11, 2018.
Police authorities identified the suspect as Melvin Carl Tayaban Buyawe, 22, single, laborer, and a resident of Maalig, Tupaya, Lagawe Ifugao.
Investigation disclosed that while the Lamut Municipal Police Station was conducting checkpoint, a single motorcycle boarded by the suspect was flagged down for not wearing his helmet. SPO3 Jose Abluyan Jr. approached the suspect and informed him of his violation and demands for his driver’s license.
While the suspect was opening his sling bag, PO3 Victor Dawong Jr. saw a hand gun placed inside the sling bag. The suspect was asked to show his firearm license but failed to present any that prompted the operating troops to put him under arrest.
A single shot gauge 12 handgun with no serial number and four (4) live ammunitions for gauge 12 shot gun were confiscated from his possession.
He was brought to the Lamut MPS for documentation. Case is ready for referral at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Lagawe Ifugao.
