ATOK, Benguet – A 16-year old minor was hurt after he was punched on the ear with the use of a metal knuckle by a laborer at Sayangan, paoay here Friday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, described the victim to be 16 –years old, Grade 10 pupil of the Sayangan-based St. Paul Academy and a resident of Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet, while he named the suspect as Florenz Rosario Sareno, 18, laborer, native of Salincaoet, Poblacion, Bugalion, Pangasinan and presently residing at Marosan’s Restaurant, Sayangan, Paoay, Atok, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed while the victim was walking towards school, he was grabbed by the suspect from behind and punched him twice on his left ear and right cheek with the use of a metal knuckle.
It was learned that the victim and the suspect challenged each other to a fistfight for still unexplained reasons last month.
The victim was rushed to the Atok district Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested inside the Marosan’s restaurant and is now detained at the Atok Municipal Policed Station awaiting the filing of charges against him.
