SABLAN, Benguet – The lifeless body of a 47-year-old laborer was found by concerned residents at sitio Suyoc, Banangan, here, on New Year’s Day.
Police authorities described the victim to be 47 years old, laborer and a resident of Hi-Acres, Suyoc, Banagan, Sablan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that at around 7 am of January 1, 2025, a male individual saw the victim, who was his cousin, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor and dozing at a pile of hallow blacks in the area.
He reportedly escorted the victim in going home to his residence but upon reaching a private road in the area, he had difficulty carrying the victim, hence, he decided to leave the latter at the side of the road to seek help from other relatives, but no one went to assist him.
Later, passersby and bystanders noticed that the victim was not breathing, and that the incident was immediately reported to the police personnel conducting routine patrol in the area.
The incident is still being subjected to an in-depth investigation to ascertain the cause of the death of the victim and to identify possible culprits to his untimely demise. By Dexter A. See
