CABUGAO, Apayao – A 35-year old labourer was injured after he was shot by an unemployed suspect while he was on his way home after coming from the house of his girlfriend at sitio Landing, Poblacion here Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Flordie Anunang, 35, single, laborer and resident of Brgy. Musimut, Kabugao, Apayao while he named the suspect as a certain Dungcal Laylay, legal age, single, unemployed, and a resident of barangay Poblacion, Kabugao, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed the victim went to visit his girlfriend when the suspect, who was also courting the same girl, suddenly arrived and tried to hit him with a bottle but he was immediately pacified.
The suspect then went out of the house and unknown to the victim, he hid along the road and as soon as the victim passed by while on his way home, he reportedly shot him with a still undisclosed firearm.
The victim was rushed to the Cabugao District Hospital for medical treatment but was subsequently transferred to the Cagayan Valley Modical Center for further treatment.
The case is still subject to further investigation as the suspect is now being hunted for the crime he committed.
