LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A labourer died while his companion was hurt after they were buried by a soil erosion within their working area at Western Buyagan, here shortly before noon Friday.
Chief Inspector Radino Belly, chief of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, identified the fatality as Drilon Pucay, of legal age, a labourer from Caliking, Atok, Benguet while his injured companion was named as Godfrey Leon, 27, single, also a labourer and a native of Pudong, Kapangan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the two laborers were ding construction activities within the premises of AC062 Buyagan, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet when the obviously weak pile of soil above them suddenly collapsed and buried them inside.
It took an hour to rescue Leon from the debris while the lifeless body of Drilon was recovered three hours after the soil erosion incident.
Probers are still conducting an investigation on the cause of the incident that resulted to the untimely demise of the labourer.
